LaVar Ball what a turkey. That’s what I used to think.that’s what I used to think and it was all this media hype and all these other media idiots saying bad things about him. it just put me off him and Lonzo, and I avoided watching interviews, highlights, commentary, anything to do with either of them.
That all changed after watching this interview at the end of Lonzon’s first NBA game against the Rockets. it was LaVar ball and Steven a talking it up, I was able to read LaVar’s body language and listen to some of the stuff he was saying. life lessons for his kid.
Hey I still think he’s a bit of a turkey, but I really don’t hate him. He’s having fun and has a genuine smile on his face. He knows it’s a bit tongue and cheek like the wrestling, it’s entertainment. And the NBA wants it to be an entertaining medium.
LaVar has appeared on wrestling and maybe he is emulating that kind of drama that drives fans to engage – whether you like him or like to hate him, he’s a part of the product.
The lesson learnt here was that I’ve missed out on some things because I’ve let other people influence my behaviour. I’m happy that I gave this guy a chance, and he proved that my feelings where of ignorance. I formed a biased opinion due to what I heard second hand.
Hey I’m not saying that I’m an instant LaVar Ball fan, he’s cool and I will give him his props. I am allowing myself to tune into more NBA, and not think that I have to avoid good content just because it involves him or his son. I wish Lonzo and LaVar all the best. Their journey will have their ups and downs no doubt, but yeah keep at it!
Stay on your path. Stay true to your intuition. Don’t stop yourself because other people’s behaviour suck.
What do you think, has there been times you altered your path towards destruction or elsewhere because other people around you. Did you have changing views about these guys or other players in the past. Reggie Miller was another one for me, but the guy himself, I think is an absolute legend.
